You can also personalize how each of your worms looks with different pieces of clothing. As you may be guessing by now, the same sense of humor from previous Worms games happens to be in this one as well. While Worms 2: Armageddon features a nice variety of new weapons to use, a lot of the classic ones are there including ‘Sheep’ and the ‘Concrete Donkey’. It was intended to be the last game of the Worms franchise, but Worms creator Andy Davidson felt that it needed more content before being released, leading to the development of Worms World Party. Worms 2: Armageddon also offers a few extra goodies like unlockable hats and grave markers for your worms. Worms Armageddon was originally intended to be an expansion pack to Worms 2, but it was eventually developed as a standalone game. (Perhaps when iPad also gets Game Center later this year?) You can also post the results of games on Facebook and Twitter, if that's your bag. It's too bad it doesn't also employ Game Center, as that's fast becoming a necessary feature for iPhone games. Worms 2: Armageddon uses Plus+ for leaderboards and social networking. You can set different parameters for games to customize matches. This is not like Carcassone, where you take a turn and walk away. You can play against anybody, anywhere – but you need to stay connected to the Internet. Worms works locally over Bluetooth for matches with up to four teams, but it also supports online play via WiFi. (Even on a Retina display, Worms 2: Armageddon loses a lot of detail when you only partially zoom out.) Worms 2: Armageddon has multiplayer options. The high-res visuals just pop off the iPad and look far more attractive on the tablet than the iPhone edition. Worms 2: Armageddon, though, looks dynamite on the tablet. The touch controls are a little easier to use, especially when navigating the nuances of jumping, but I still struggled with the same stuff: ropes and jetpacks. This madness was built for a larger screen. However, Worms 2: Armageddon on the iPad (it is a universal app) is a bit better. I wish it wasn't the case, but Worms 2: Armageddon is just not very much fun to play. In a two-player match over Bluetooth with another editor, both of us just grimaced as moves and shots were routinely screwed up. Flinging a worm across the screen with a ninja rope is an ace move required by champions, but pulling off a series of successful ropes is a Herculean task. Too often I would try to deploy a mine while flying and just end up dropping right on top of my deadly payload. Play Holding the fire button to ignite the jetpack and then tapping around to fly just never clicked with me.
